Kit is recommended for a bottom bracket replacement on bikes that have a bottom bracket with the square tapered shaft. Some bikes in the field require a change of the crank arms when this bottom bracket is installed due to incompatibility of some arms to the bottom bracket. There are no manufacturer dates or serial numbers available to determine if crank arms require replacement. I maintain a flock of 40 indoor cycles, 2 of which had been completely stripped of all working parts to repair other bikes. I used 2 of these bottom bracket & crank arm kits to re-build those two bikes. They are now the favorites in the flock.

Installation does require the special splined bottom bracket tool, but if you regularly repair bikes this is a non-issue...plus you can buy one from SportSmith at a very reasonable price if you don't already have one.
